The Other Cinema is a global network of cinema lovers who seek to return to the golden days of cinema – believing in the community, passion and shared experience that comes of the cinema-going experience. The Other Cinema will show one beautiful and vital film each month on the same day in a growing network of pop up cinemas around the world.
The Other Cinema shall take the spirit, the sense of event and the love of cinema that has been developed through the Future Shorts and Future Cinema networks, to create a shared cinema experience once a month. The global nature of the project will allow audiences to share stories, ideas and culture from the films as well as the places they are from - we will encourage local communities to come together to create their own local cinema, engaging and mobilising people to get involved
The Other Cinema launches on the 14th of February 2012 across the United Kingdom. The audience will share in the appreciation of one of the most romantic films of all time - David Lean's Brief Encounter. To find your nearest Other Cinema, click here.
